Nurse: Friend or foe?

Chest tattoo: A coat of arms that reveals the origins of the modern tyranny.

Rabbit: the living sacrifice made to the god of darkness.

Syringe: The modern dagger that cuts.

Cabinet: The library of historical attrocities that lead to this point in modernity.

How can a practice aimed at healing turn into a sadistic practice? As we glance at this work, it clearly is meant to shock and awe. The initial reaction might be to recoil, perhaps in disgust, indignation or simply incomprehension.

The pictorial attributes of this work shout very loudly: extreme sensuality, apparent cruelty, mysterious logos and symbols. The contrast between the reds, ochres, flesh tones and the barely-white nurse outfit are meant to be clues to the narrative of this piece.

I created this piece after the ‘event of 2020’ that changed the world. So many paradigms that I held true were turned on their head; friends became foes; and partners became estranged. I was not the only one. I became obsessed understanding how my personal catastrophes were mirrors of larger social forces that have been active since long, long ago.
